Kateri Chambers studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (MMus--Dr. Stephen Preston) and the Peabody Conservatory (BM--Colin St Martin). While working on her studies, she was heard performing with many of their Early Music ensembles ( Guildhall Baroque, Medieval and Renaissance, Peabody Renaissance Ensemble,
Peabody Broken Consort, Peabody Baroque, and Baltimore Baroque Band).
She performed regularly with her traditional Irish music ensemble Ash & Rowan as well as
with her own Early Music ensembles (Ensemble Chaeron and Flûtes Caquets).
Kateri hails from the San Francisco Bay Area where she
studied voice with Joseph Bloom. She continued her vocal studies in the studios of Daniel Holmes and Dr. Lori Lind-Holmes. Kateri is currently performing and teaching in the DC area. She prefers singing musical theatre, Renaissance, and Folk music, but has a strong love of Opera and believes in training founded upon Classical techniques. Her voice eludes pigeonholing; some call her a baby dramatic soprano, others prefer to hear the more mellow tones of her expansive chest resonance and consider her a lyric soprano or a musical theatre belter with extreme upper and lower extensions.
